CHEF
Meek
MEET
Raised in Philadelphia, PA, in a single-parent household as the eldest of three children, Chef Meek's journey into the culinary world stemmed from her childhood. With limited exposure to home cooking, she found herself gravitating towards any kitchen where she could absorb knowledge, ask questions, and lend a hand. This curiosity blossomed into a hobby of collecting and recreating recipes.
Initially, Chef Meek pursued a career in cosmetology after high school, reflecting another of her passions. Yet, her connection to the culinary world remained steadfast. Her evident leadership qualities led her to management roles in various restaurants, including Gladys Knight’s Chicken & Waffles in Atlanta, GA, Boston Market in Philadelphia, PA, and Milk and Honey in Atlanta, GA.
2018 marked a pivotal year for Chef Meek as she embraced her culinary calling. Responding to numerous requests, she launched her own catering and meal prep company. Cooking, for her, transcended beyond a profession – it was therapeutic, a medium to express her passion and love. Her dishes, imbued with this love, resonate with every customer, including notable figures like Celebrity Couple Khadeen & Devale Ellis, Celebrity Stylist Anthony Henderson (R.I.P), Gospel Singer Duranice Pace (R.I.P), Angie Stone, and others. Her talent was recognized in Voyage ATL's December 2021 issue.
Chef Meek's literary venture, an autobiography cookbook titled "Blended: The Anatomy of Chef Meek," published in 2021, intertwines poignant personal stories with delightful recipes, each reflecting milestones in her life. This book, available on Amazon, is a testament to her journey and culinary expertise.
Outside the kitchen, Chef Meek dedicates her time to friends, family, ministry, and community service. During the pandemic, she provided 200 meals to Grady Hospital's night staff and 50 to Emory Decatur, in addition to her community efforts with The Preparation Station. This project, which she hopes to relaunch, focuses on aiding the homeless with meals, clothing, and a safe space.
Looking ahead, Chef Meek envisions opening a family-style restaurant, continuing her mission to nourish and inspire through her culinary creations and community efforts. Her story is a vivid reminder that the best is indeed yet to come.
